Indiana Fever Coach Stephanie White Shares Thoughts on WNBA MVP Battle.

Indiana Fever coach Stephanie White spoke about who is most deserving of the 2025 WNBA MVP award.

The Indiana Fever wrapped up their 2025 regular season on September 9 with an 83-72 win over the Minnesota Lynx, finishing with a 24-20 record as they head into the postseason.

Neither team had its top star on the floor. For Indiana, Caitlin Clark remains sidelined for the rest of the season with an injury, while Minnesota rested Napheesa Collier since they already secured the No. 1 seed. Collier’s absence also meant one less chance to strengthen her MVP case, with the award widely considered a race between her, Las Vegas Aces forward A’ja Wilson, and Phoenix Mercury forward Alyssa Thomas.

Before tipoff, Fever head coach Stephanie White was asked to share her thoughts on the MVP race. She noted that injuries complicate the discussion, pointing out that Collier missed time, while Wilson and the Aces surged during that span. White praised both players’ seasons and highlighted Thomas’ remarkable ability to consistently post triple-doubles.

At the same time, White made sure to spotlight her own star, Kelsey Mitchell. She emphasized Mitchell’s steady rise in production whenever Indiana faced setbacks, arguing that her impact on the Fever should not be overlooked when discussing the league’s most valuable player.

Although White didn’t declare a definitive choice, her comments suggested that Wilson may have the edge, especially given Collier’s missed games. Still, she made a strong case for Mitchell to be recognized among the league’s elite performers this season.
