McLaughlin had been dealing with discomfort for some time. Although she continued to compete in races and appeared unaffected on the surface, the reality was quite different behind the scenes. Like many elite athletes, she pushed through the pain, driven by her commitment to her sport and her goals. Her determination masked the severity of what she was facing, and many would not have known anything was wrong just by watching her perform.
Over the past few months, we had countless conversations about how she was feeling. She remained hopeful that the discomfort would resolve on its own, and she didn’t want to let her teammates or fans down. But as time went on, it became clear that the issue wasn’t improving and that continuing to ignore it could cause more harm than good in the long run.
After further medical evaluation and much prayer and reflection, we’ve come to the difficult decision that it’s best for her to step back and prioritize healing. It’s not easy for an athlete of her caliber to take a break, especially when so much anticipation surrounds her upcoming performances. But this decision is rooted in wisdom, health, and the belief that sometimes stepping away is necessary for greater long-term success.
We want to thank everyone for their continued support and understanding. This is just a pause not the end. She remains focused, hopeful, and grounded in faith. With proper rest, treatment, and God’s grace, we are confident she’ll return stronger and more inspired than ever.
We appreciate your prayers and encouragement during this time. Your love means more than words can express.
