Seven-time Formula 1 world champion Lewis Hamilton has expressed his satisfaction after testing Ferrari’s 2023 and 2024 cars. The British driver, who will be joining Ferrari for the 2025 season, reportedly found their latest machinery to be well-balanced and responsive, offering a driving experience distinct from his current Mercedes.
Sources indicate that Hamilton was particularly impressed by how quickly Ferrari’s cars adapted to different driving conditions compared to the older Mercedes models. The Scuderia’s aerodynamic efficiency and mechanical grip allowed for smoother cornering and better overall handling, which Hamilton sees as a strong foundation for his transition next year.
Ferrari has made notable progress in recent seasons, consistently challenging Red Bull and Mercedes. Their 2024 car, designed with improvements in stability and tire management, has already demonstrated strong pace in the early part of the season. Hamilton, known for his precise driving style, reportedly felt comfortable in the Ferrari cockpit, which suggests he could hit the ground running when he officially joins the team.
While his time at Mercedes has been historic, Hamilton has faced challenges with their recent cars, particularly with the “zero sidepod” concept that proved inconsistent. In contrast, Ferrari’s design philosophy has focused on a more conventional yet highly refined aerodynamic package. This difference, combined with Ferrari’s powerful engine, may provide Hamilton with a car better suited to his aggressive yet calculated driving approach.
With the 2024 season still underway, Hamilton remains committed to giving his best for Mercedes before making the highly anticipated switch. His positive assessment of Ferrari’s performance, however, signals an exciting new chapter in his illustrious career, as he looks forward to fighting for an eighth world title in red.
