South Carolina commitment J’Zavien Currence made a significant jump in the latest rankings update from 247Sports.
The four-star safety out of South Pointe High School jumped 40 spots to No. 53 overall in the class of 2026. His rating increased to 93, previously checking in at 90. He continues to be the No. 1 overall player in the state of South Carolina, regardless of position.
Julian Walker (Dutch Fork) was among the handful of players added to the Top247 on Wednesday. Now, a four-star, Walker is ranked No. 149. He carries a four-star rating of 91 and is ranked No. 13 among all prospects classified as an edge.
Walker’s first rating posted a week ago (89). At the time, he checked in at No. 35 among the edge prospects and No. 8 overall in the state of South Carolina. He’s now the No. 3-ranked instate recruit in 2024
Kentavion Anderson is still the No. 2 instate prospect. His national ranking fell six spots to No. 118. His rating climbed from a 90 to 91.Those three are among several of the Gamecocks’ top targets for the 2026 recruiting cycle who made moves within the Top247.
Defensive end Rodney Dunham (Charlotte, N.C.) dropped from No. 9 to 15, but his rating is still 95.
Darius Gray (Richmond, Va.) is up to No. 21 overall, 21 spots from his previous listing. His rating increased to 94 from 91.Cornerback Khary Adams (Towson, Md.) moved up to No. 29 from 38. Plus, his rating was bumped from 91 to 94.
Defensive tackle Aiden Harris (Matthews, N.C.) climbed three spots to No. 46 and saw his rating improve from 91 to 93.
Quarterback Landon Duckworth (Jackson, Ala.) is now ranked No. 47. Previously, he was 66. His rating increased three points to 93.Interior offensive lineman Pierre Dean (Clemmons, N.C.) fell 10 spots to No. 95, but his rating bumped by two points to 92.
Defensive tackle Noah Clark (Durham, N.C.) dropped to No. 122 from 109. His rating was improved by one point to 91.
Quarterback Brady Smigiel (Newbury Park, Calif.) moved down to No. 125 from 113. He also received a one-point bump to 91.Cornerback Samari Matthews (Cornelius, N.C.) didn’t budge from his spot at No. 137. He’s up a point to 91.
Wide receiver Somourian Wingo (St. Augustine, Fla.) climbed to No. 164 from 189. And yet another increase to 91 from 90 points.
Defensive tackle Trashawn Ruffin (Mount Olive, N.C.), who’s committed to Texas A&M, jumped to No. 189 from 209. His rating held firm at 90.
Recently offered cornerback Dylan Purter (Tuskegee, Ala.) debuted at No. 188.
Penn State running back commitment Messiah Mickens fell to No. 211 from 164. His rating stayed at 90.
Former South Carolina linebacker commitment Rodney Colton Jr. moved up a spot to No. 235.
Even though offensive lineman Micah Smith (Vero Beach, Fla.) slid out of the Top247, he is still rated as a 90 and listed as a four-star.
