Fever’s Caitlin Clark Shows Support for Sophie Cunningham After Season-Ending Injury.

Fever’s Caitlin Clark Shows Support for Sophie Cunningham After Season-Ending, InjuryIndiana Fever guard Caitlin Clark offered her support to teammate Sophie Cunningham after it was confirmed that Cunningham will miss the rest of the 2025 WNBA season due to a knee injury sustained on Aug. 17 against the Connecticut Sun.

On Monday, Clark reposted the Fever’s official announcement on Instagram and added a personal note: “Love you always Soph @sophie_cham.”

Cunningham went down in the first half of the game after Sun guard Bria Hartley collided with her right knee. She immediately grabbed her leg in pain and had to be helped off the court. Tests later revealed a torn MCL, which, though less severe than an ACL tear, will sideline her for the remainder of the year.

Fever head coach Stephanie White recalled the moment of injury, telling the Indianapolis Star: “The way she fell and how much pain she was in, it was like, ‘crap.’ Then you just want her to calm down and regroup, and from there it turns into problem solving. This team is special, and I’m grateful for them.”

Cunningham’s setback adds to a growing injury list for Indiana, who are already without Aari McDonald and Sydney Colson for the season and have been missing Clark since July 15 with groin issues. White has expressed optimism that Clark could still return before the end of the regular season.

Cunningham, who celebrated her 29th birthday last weekend, has become a fan favorite in her first year with Indiana, known for her hustle and defensive grit rather than scoring numbers. Her absence makes the Fever’s push for the playoffs even tougher, with the team sitting sixth in the standings and preparing for back-to-back matchups with the Minnesota Lynx this weekend.
