ESPN’s Dick Vitale is well-acquainted with the NCAA Men’s Basketball Tournament, but he might not be as confident in this year’s Kentucky Wildcats. In his 2025 March Madness bracket, Vitale doesn’t predict a deep run for Kentucky, as he detailed in a recent article analyzing his picks game by game.
In his predictions, Kentucky secures a first-round victory over 14th-seeded Troy, with their opening tournament matchup scheduled for 7:10 PM on Friday. “Big Blue Nation celebrates an opening-round W,” Vitale commented.
Moving on to the Round of 32, he expects Kentucky to edge out Illinois, who would have advanced by defeating the winner of the play-in game between Texas and Xavier. “Illinois fights until the final buzzer, but Kentucky makes big plays down the stretch to close it out at the line,” Vitale explained.
However, he sees Kentucky’s journey ending in the Sweet 16 against Tennessee, a team they had already beaten twice earlier in the season. “In the final minutes, Tennessee’s veteran leadership shows up, and the Vols close it out like champions,” Vitale said.
