Eli Tomac Raced with a Broken Fibula, Out for Detroit.

Yamaha has released an unfortunate update regarding Eli Tomac’s injury. The star rider was competing with a broken fibula during Saturday night’s race in Tampa, an injury severe enough to sideline him from upcoming rounds, starting with Detroit this weekend.

The fibula is the smaller of the two bones in the lower leg, and Tomac sustained the injury after jamming his foot into the ground during a qualifying lap. Initially believed to be just an ankle sprain and a bruised calf, further medical evaluation revealed the fracture.

Yamaha’s Official Statement: Tomac to Focus on Recovery

Monster Energy Yamaha Star Racing confirmed that Tomac will miss the next rounds of the Monster Energy AMA Supercross season to focus on healing. Despite the injury, the eight-time AMA Supercross/Motocross Champion showed remarkable resilience, finishing seventh in his heat race and competing in the main event, earning five valuable points in the 450SX Championship standings. Yamaha will provide an update on his recovery timeline at a later date.

Rich Simmons – Monster Energy Yamaha Star Racing 450 Team Manager

“We’re all really disappointed for Eli. He’s been riding at an incredible level and was right in the mix for the championship. Knowing now that he was racing with a broken leg, it just shows his toughness and determination. We look forward to his recovery and seeing him come back even stronger.”

Eli Tomac – Monster Energy Yamaha Star Racing #3

“Unfortunately, my injury turned out to be more than just an ankle sprain and a bruised calf. After two days of continued pain, I got further scans, which confirmed I have a broken fibula. It’s really frustrating because I felt the best I ever have in Supercross, and winning in San Diego was amazing. I don’t have a specific recovery timeline yet, but I’ll be working hard to return as soon as possible.”

For now, Tomac will focus on his rehabilitation, with fans and the Yamaha team eagerly awaiting his comeback.
