Derrick White Breaks Silence After Celtics Trades.

The Boston Celtics have undergone major roster changes this offseason, most significantly by trading away Jrue Holiday and Kristaps Porzingis. These moves weren’t necessarily because the team wanted to part with the players, but rather to avoid surpassing the NBA’s second tax apron.

Other names came up in trade rumors as well including Derrick White, who was linked to the Golden State Warriors in speculation by reporter Logan Murdock. Ultimately, no deal came through, and White remains on the Celtics’ roster. Still, Boston’s lineup will look drastically different next season. Aside from the departures of Holiday and Porzingis, Luke Kornet has signed with the San Antonio Spurs, and there are strong signs that Al Horford might leave too. To top it off, Jayson Tatum is expected to miss the entire 2025-26 season.

Celtics guard Derrick White recently addressed the team’s offseason shake-up in a conversation with NBC Sports’ Chris Forsberg. Reflecting on the trades and roster turnover, White said, “It’s always tough to see teammates go, especially guys you’ve shared a championship and hard-fought games with. Seeing KP and Jrue traded, and Luke signing elsewhere, it wasn’t easy.”

He acknowledged that while change can be difficult, it’s a natural part of the NBA, and he remains optimistic about the future. “It’s going to be a new experience and a different kind of challenge, but that’s the beauty of the game,” he added.

Unless further moves are made, White’s new teammates for the upcoming season will include Anfernee Simons, Georges Niang, Josh Minott, Luka Garza, Hugo Gonzalez, and Max Shulga.
