Dan Hurley’s newest transfer Alec Millender shares a heartwarming message after joining UConn..

UConn’s latest transfer portal gem, Alec Millender, has already shared an inspiring and heartfelt message after officially joining Coach Dan Hurley’s Huskies.

The 6‑foot‑1 graduate guard, who spent last season at IU Indianapolis, touched down in Storrs on Sunday to begin summer workouts. UConn’s official X page featured a warm welcome video, capturing Millender’s very first visit to the Werth Family Champions Center. In it, he beamed with gratitude as he described settling into town.

“Ready to get to work man, happy to be here,” Millender said. “I just hopped on the plane this evening and got in a little bit late tonight … I came to the locker room and seen my locker for the first time. It’s just a blessing to be here. I’m excited, man. I got in the gym a little bit and shot around.”

The Chicago native continued:

“I’m just really excited to get with the guys, play in front of Husky Nation,  I can’t wait. I just want to bring that energy, that liveliness, every day to the team, to the fans, to the world.”

Millender arrives with a polished résumé after four years at Division II Wayne State and a strong 2024‑25 campaign at IU Indianapolis, where he averaged 8.2 points and 3.7 assists per game while shooting 46.3% from the floor and 43.5% from three . As a senior leader with one season left of eligibility, he’s already drawing praise from Coach Hurley, who highlighted Millender’s experience, shooting swagger, and the leadership traits he’ll bring to Storrs .

Hurley emphasized that his staff has bolstered the squad with talent, potential, and seasoned contributors, and Millender offers exactly that in terms of ball‑handling reliability, on‑court maturity, and bench depth especially valuable in a guard rotation that includes Silas Demary Jr. and Malachi Smith .

Already aligned with a championship-level mindset, Millender said he’s here to energize the team and community daily. As UConn fans gear up for the 2025‑26 season, his upbeat words and polished skill set add fresh momentum to the Huskies’ ambitious title pursuit.
