Just two days into training camp, the Dallas Wings are already buzzing about team chemistry with relationships forming as quickly as plays on the court.
Veteran star Arike Ogunbowale recently spoke at a press conference about her early impressions of top draft pick Paige Bueckers. Ogunbowale, who’s set for another impactful season, praised the mutual respect developing between her and Bueckers, emphasizing that off-court bonds are just as vital as on-court performance. “It’s been two good days; we’ve been playing well together,” Ogunbowale told reporter Joey Mistretta. “There’s been a lot of good combinations between Paige and me, Paige and others, myself and others. It’s been solid.”
Bueckers is also forming friendships with other teammates, notably veteran guard DiJonai Carrington. The pair recently appeared in a lighthearted Instagram story and joked with each other on X through the Wings’ official account, showcasing the camaraderie building behind the scenes.

Her WNBA debut on May 2 will be particularly special, as the Wings take on the Las Vegas Aces at Notre Dame’s Purcell Pavilion the alma mater of Ogunbowale, Jewell Loyd, and Jackie Young. “Notre Dame fans love their women’s basketball,” Bueckers said with a grin. “For Arike, Jewell, Jackie … it’ll be like a Notre Dame alum reunion. The energy will be amazing.”
With three more weeks of camp ahead, fans are eager to see how Bueckers continues to bond with her new teammates and how that connection translates to success on the hardwood.
