
Olympic snowboarding gold medalist Lindsey Jacobellis has announced that she is expecting a baby.
Jacobellis shared the news on Instagram in a creative way, telling her 2022 Olympic champion teammate, Nick Baumgartner. “I just wanted to announce that I can’t be your teammate for the next race because I got a new teammate,” she said with a smile, before revealing a sonogram in a post captioned #momtobe, among other hashtags.
At 39, Jacobellis is a decorated athlete, having won gold in both individual and team snowboard cross at the Beijing Winter Olympics her fifth Olympic appearance. She last competed in March 2024, finishing the 2023-24 season ranked 12th in the World Cup standings.
Meanwhile, the Snowboard World Championships begin Thursday in Switzerland, with snowboard cross finals scheduled for March 28 (individual) and March 29 (team). The U.S. Olympic snowboarding team for the 2026 Winter Games will be finalized next winter.
