Boston will get its longest breather between Game 1 and Game 2, enjoying two full days off before resuming a near every-other-day schedule for the rest of the series.
This marks the first postseason meeting between Boston and Orlando since the 2010 Eastern Conference Finals, where Paul Pierce, Kevin Garnett, and Ray Allen guided the Celtics to a 4–2 series win. Since then, the teams haven’t crossed paths in the playoffs.
Orlando (41–41) clinched its playoff berth with a dominant victory over the Atlanta Hawks on Tuesday. The Hawks will now play the winner of the Bulls vs. Heat play-in game for a chance to continue their postseason hopes.
Elsewhere in the East:
The top-seeded Cleveland Cavaliers await the winner of Thursday’s play-in game (Hawks, Bulls, or Heat).
The No. 3 Knicks will battle the No. 6 Pistons.
The No. 4 Pacers are set to go up against the No. 5 Bucks.
