Caitlin Clark and the Indiana Fever beat the Sun as the WNBA shows off its star in Boston.

BOSTON (AP) — Caitlin Clark didn’t have her best game during her first appearance in Boston, but that didn’t dampen the excitement of the fans packed into TD Garden on Tuesday night for a rare WNBA showcase at the traditional home of the Celtics and Bruins.

In place of the usual Celtics branding and their mascot Lucky the Leprechaun, the court displayed WNBA and Connecticut Sun logos the league’s only New England franchise hosting their second straight game in Boston.

Both years have drawn sellout crowds of 19,156, marking record attendance for basketball at the venue. This time, most came to catch a glimpse of Clark and the visiting Indiana Fever.

“It’s a special chance for people in this city and nearby areas to come out and support the WNBA,” Clark said ahead of the game. “You never take moments like this for granted. It’s always exciting to experience a new arena and atmosphere.”

Fans flooded the courtside in Clark jerseys, holding signs, and hoping for autographs or selfies. The star-studded audience included Celtics players Jaylen Brown and Georges Niang, Bruins players Jeremy Swayman and Mason Lohrei, Red Sox pitcher Lucas Giolito, and Massachusetts Governor Maura Healey.
