Caitlin Clark Breaks Serena Williams’ Six-Figure Record..

Caitlin Clark wasted no time making her mark in the WNBA, shattering records throughout her rookie season with the Indiana Fever.

Clark not only earned a spot on the All-WNBA First Team but also set league records for most assists in a single season and most points by a rookie. Before joining the WNBA, she became the NCAA’s all-time leading scorer while playing for the Iowa Hawkeyes.

Tennis icon Serena Williams has long been a record-setter herself, holding the most career wins among women (367) and claiming 23 Grand Slam titles the most in the Open Era. Until recently, she also owned the record for the most valuable women’s trading card, with her 2003 NetPro International Series Apparel Autograph card selling for $266,400 in May 2022.

However, Clark has now surpassed that milestone. Less than two months before her second WNBA season, her ‘2024 Panini Prizm WNBA Signatures Gold Vinyl Signed Rookie Card’, a unique one-of-one item, sold for an astounding $366,000. This sale also breaks her previous record for the most valuable women’s basketball card her ‘Panini Select WNBA Gold Vinyl Card’, another one-of-one, which fetched $234,850 in December 2024.

Clark’s card topped Williams’ by nearly $100,000, but it still falls far short of the men’s record. The most expensive sports card ever sold remains the ‘1952 Topps Mickey Mantle’, which went for $12.6 million in August 2022. In men’s basketball, the priciest card is the ‘2009-10 Panini National Treasures Stephen Curry Rookie Logoman Autograph’, which was purchased for $5.9 million in 2021.

Clark and the Fever are set to return to the court soon, opening their 2025 regular season on May 17 against Angel Reese and the Chicago Sky.
