Brundle is rendered speechless on Sky Sports by Danica Patrick.

Martin Brundle was visibly baffled during a live TV broadcast last Friday after a surprising remark from former IndyCar driver Danica Patrick. The ex-F1 driver and current pundit was left momentarily silent on air.

The moment stemmed from Patrick’s unexpected take on the Circuit Gilles Villeneuve. “It’s not a super challenging track; you just need the car to be well balanced,” she said on Sky Sports. The camera then cut to Brundle, who stared directly into the lens, clearly taken aback, not saying a word for a few seconds.

Her comment contrasted sharply with the general consensus about the Canadian Grand Prix venue, which is widely regarded as a demanding circuit. The layout features tricky, high-speed chicanes like the downhill right-left at Turn 3, where Charles Leclerc crashed during FP1. Other trouble spots include Turns 7 and 8, where the rear-limited nature of the track makes it easy to lock the brakes, something that caught out George Russell, Lando Norris, and Oscar Piastri, among others.

The hairpin turn and the infamous Wall of Champions brushed by Max Verstappen in FP1 add further challenges. The Dutch driver came astonishingly close to hitting the wall as he pushed for optimal lap time.

Incidents in both FP1 and FP2 showed that the track is far from easy. Leclerc’s collision at Turn 4 was severe enough to damage the car’s survival cell, forcing him out of FP2. Later, Lance Stroll clipped the wall at Turn 8, damaging his suspension.

Brundle remained in the spotlight throughout the weekend. He weighed in on the collision between Verstappen and Russell in Spain, arguing that Verstappen deserved an extra penalty point something that would have triggered a race ban. He also publicly backed Derek Warwick after the FIA suspended him for comments related to stewarding decisions during the Spanish Grand Prix.
