The reigning national champions are reloading in a major way. UConn picked up a massive addition last week, landing 6-foot-4 star forward Serah Williams out of the transfer portal. With her arrival, expectations in Storrs have skyrocketed as the Huskies aim to repeat in 2025. Williams brings size, skill, and experience to a frontcourt that now features one of the most exciting duos in the country, teaming up with rising sophomore Sarah Strong, who’s already recognized as one of the nation’s elite players.
Azzi Fudd returns for another season, bringing leadership and scoring to the perimeter. After battling injuries throughout her career, Fudd looks ready to take the reins alongside Strong and Williams in what promises to be a dynamic and balanced lineup. Last year’s core included superstar Paige Bueckers, but with her graduation, the baton now passes to a new trio: Fudd, Strong, and Williams.
Floor general KK Arnold is expected to take a significant step forward in Year 2, while Ayanna Patterson and Morgan Cheli are set to return from injury, adding depth and athleticism. Add in a talented freshman class, and Geno Auriemma’s 41st season at the helm looks as promising as ever.
And the roster might not be finalized. UConn remains in the mix for USC transfer Kayleigh Heckel, a dynamic guard who has also visited Notre Dame and Vanderbilt this offseason. If she commits to the Huskies, it could be the final piece of an already loaded puzzle. With a revamped frontcourt, experienced guards, and a Hall of Fame coach steering the ship, UConn’s path to back-to-back titles is starting to take shape. The rest of the nation has been put on notice Geno and the Huskies aren’t going anywhere.
