BREAKING: Traeshon Holden is ‘Coming for Heads’ at Cowboys’ Rookie Minicamp…
Frisco, TX — The Dallas Cowboys’ rookie minicamp has only just begun, but one name is already making waves: wide receiver Traeshon Holden. The undrafted free agent out of Oregon is turning heads — and as he boldly declared to reporters, he’s “coming for heads.”
It’s a statement loaded with intent and attitude, and Holden is backing it up with action on the field. Through the first two days of rookie minicamp, the 6-foot-3, 215-pound receiver has showcased the kind of physicality, route-running polish, and competitive fire that could make him one of the surprise standouts of the Cowboys’ offseason.
“I didn’t come here to play small,” Holden said after Saturday’s practice. “I came here to dominate. I’m coming for heads — plain and simple.”
Holden’s fiery mindset has already caught the attention of coaches and fellow players. After transferring from Alabama to Oregon for his final college season, Holden finished with 38 receptions, 452 yards, and 6 touchdowns — numbers that may not leap off the page but speak to his reliability and red-zone presence. Now, in a crowded Cowboys receiver room that includes CeeDee Lamb, Brandin Cooks, and Jalen Tolbert, Holden knows he’ll have to fight for every opportunity.
That mentality is exactly what wide receivers coach Robert Prince is looking for. “Traeshon has shown up ready to compete,” Prince said. “He plays with an edge, and he’s got the frame and skillset to make an impact if he continues to develop.”
Holden’s size and catch radius make him a natural red-zone target, but what’s really standing out in camp is his aggressive approach — both mentally and physically. Whether it’s battling for contested catches or laying down crisp, sharp breaks on his routes, Holden looks like a player with something to prove.
And he does.
After going undrafted, Holden has carried that chip on his shoulder into every rep. “I feel like people overlooked me,” he said. “But I’m here now. I’m wearing this star, and I’m going to make sure people remember my name.”
The Cowboys, known for finding undrafted gems — including Hall of Famers like Drew Pearson and Tony Romo — are always on the lookout for that next underdog story. Holden’s early flashes have given fans a reason to believe that he could be one of this year’s surprises.
Still, the road to the 53-man roster is long and unforgiving. Holden will need to continue this level of intensity through OTAs, training camp, and preseason games to make a serious case. But for now, he’s doing exactly what he set out to do — make noise.
As one Cowboys assistant put it, “You can feel it with him. He’s not just here to participate. He’s here to compete. He means it when he says he’s coming for heads.”
And if this weekend is any indication, Traeshon Holden might just take one.
