Breaking: Stacked 400m Line-Up to Face Sydney McLaughlin-Levrone at Prefontaine Classic.

Track fans are in for a blockbuster showdown at the 2025 Prefontaine Classic, as the women’s 400m field has been officially revealed and it’s nothing short of world-class. Reigning Olympic and world champion Sydney McLaughlin-Levrone will headline the event, but she’ll be tested by an elite mix of emerging stars and seasoned speedsters.

Among those set to challenge McLaughlin-Levrone is Rhasidat Adeleke, Ireland’s national record holder and a consistent force on the Diamond League circuit. Adeleke has been in flying form this season and remains one of the few athletes capable of closing strongly against the American star.

Joining Adeleke is Amber Anning, fresh off her breakthrough indoor season, where she became the second-fastest Brit ever over 400m. Aaliyah Butler, the rising American phenom, and NCAA standout Rosey Effiong also add firepower to the field.

Alexis Holmes, part of Team USA’s record-breaking mixed 4x400m relay squad, brings championship experience and closing speed. Meanwhile, Bailey Lear and Dejanea Oakley both known for their fierce competitiveness at collegiate and international levels will look to spring a surprise.

Rounding out the loaded field is Isabella Whittaker, another rising U.S. talent who’s quietly been building momentum in recent months.

This highly anticipated 400m clash is more than just a McLaughlin-Levrone showcase. It’s a crucial test ahead of the Olympic Games in Paris and a rare chance to see multiple sub-50 threats line up in a single race.

The Prefontaine Classic has a history of delivering iconic moments and with this field, the women’s 400m could steal the show.
