BREAKING: Notre Dame Lands Commitment No. 6 in the 2027 Class from Four-Star Tustin (CA) Safety Khalil Terry.

Notre Dame continued its recruiting momentum in the 2027 cycle on Tuesday, securing a verbal commitment from four-star safety Khalil Terry of Tustin High School in California. Terry becomes the sixth pledge in the Irish’s early 2027 class and the second defensive back, adding more firepower to what’s shaping up as another elite group under head coach Marcus Freeman.

Terry, ranked among the top safeties nationally and one of the premier prospects in California, chose Notre Dame over offers from programs such as USC, Oregon, Michigan, and Texas. Known for his elite instincts, range, and physicality in the secondary, Terry brings the type of versatility the Irish have prioritized in recent recruiting cycles. He has shown the ability to line up deep in coverage, roll into the box, and even contribute on special teams.

“The tradition at Notre Dame, the coaching staff, and the family atmosphere really stood out,” Terry said in announcing his decision. “I want to be part of something bigger than football, and South Bend feels like home.”

With Terry’s commitment, the Irish now hold one of the most balanced early classes in the country, blending national talent from across regions. He joins fellow four-star defensive back Xavier Hasan, who recently trended toward the Irish, forming what could be a cornerstone defensive duo for the 2027 class.

Notre Dame’s defensive coordinator Al Golden played a key role in securing Terry’s pledge, emphasizing the program’s history of developing NFL-caliber safeties. Terry’s addition underscores Notre Dame’s continued success recruiting on the West Coast a pipeline Freeman’s staff has strategically expanded since his arrival.
