Azzi Fudd Opens Up About Life Without Paige Bueckers. Azzi Fudd and Paige Bueckers were central to UConn Women’s Basketball’s success, leading the Huskies to their 12th national championship with an 82–59 victory over South Carolina in April. But with Bueckers now playing professionally for the Dallas Wings, Fudd faces a new chapter on her own—a reality she discussed on Around the W, a Sports Illustrated podcast.
“It’s definitely going to be different, but it’s going to be great,” Fudd said. “We have some new pieces coming in, and just from this summer, I already got chills seeing how things went. Getting more time together to build chemistry and work on what we want to achieve as a team—it’s going to be another great year.”
Off the court, Bueckers recently confirmed Fudd as her girlfriend, according to ESPN’s Kalan Hooks, while also making a strong case for WNBA Rookie of the Year. Fudd, meanwhile, has focused on community engagement, hosting her annual girls’ basketball game and preparing to compete alongside JuJu Watkins in the second season of Unrivaled.
Statistically, Fudd was a major force for UConn last season, averaging 13.6 points and two rebounds per game while shooting 47% overall and 43.6% from beyond the arc. She elevated her game in the NCAA tournament, putting up 17.5 points per contest.
