Aston Martin Planning Blockbuster Move for Verstappen with Record-Breaking Offer..

Could Max Verstappen be tempted to leave Red Bull for the F1 'deal of the century'?

According to a new report, Aston Martin are aiming to lure Max Verstappen away from Red Bull in what could become the most sensational deal in Formula 1 history. Italian newspaper La Gazzetta dello Sport claims the Silverstone-based team is ready to table a staggering €264 million (£226 million) contract spanning the 2026–2028 seasons to secure the Dutch superstar.

Despite also being linked with a potential switch to Mercedes, Aston Martin are said to be leading the race for Verstappen’s signature, thanks to backing from Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment Fund (PIF). The PIF, which already owns a 20% stake in Aston Martin Lagonda and supports the F1 team via sponsor Aramco, is reportedly looking to acquire full ownership of the team to seal the deal.

The proposed offer would see Verstappen’s annual earnings jump from approximately €50 million to a jaw-dropping €88 million. Aston Martin team principal Andy Cowell faced questions about the report during the Saudi Arabian Grand Prix weekend, but offered no confirmation.

With Red Bull experiencing early-season issues in 2025, Verstappen — who currently trails championship leader Lando Norris by just eight points — has reportedly grown frustrated. Although contracted with Red Bull until 2028, performance-based clauses in his agreement could allow him to exit early.

“La Gazzetta” reported that Mercedes had previously been the frontrunner for Verstappen, but talks fell through over financial terms. Aston Martin then emerged as a serious contender, fueled by Saudi investment. In response, Mercedes boss Toto Wolff is now prioritizing a contract renewal with George Russell.

If Verstappen makes the switch, he would be reunited with legendary car designer Adrian Newey, further strengthening Aston Martin’s ambitions.

Ahead of the Saudi GP, Verstappen dismissed the speculation, emphasizing his commitment to improving Red Bull’s performance. Responding to questions about team advisor Helmut Marko’s concerns, he said: “I just keep working, keep trying to improve the car… I’m very relaxed.”
