Aprilia ‘contact’ rider as a Plan B if Jorge Martin leaves.

Aprilia Sound Out Bastianini Amid Martin Uncertainty

Aprilia have reportedly approached Enea Bastianini as a possible replacement for Jorge Martin, should the reigning world champion depart in 2026. Though their priority is to retain Martin, ongoing tensions over his contract have prompted the team to explore alternative options. According to Sky Italia, preliminary contact has been made with Bastianini, but only as a backup in case Martin leaves.

Multiple Teams Eye Bastianini After Ducati Exit

Bastianini, who lost his coveted Ducati factory seat to Marc Marquez, is currently riding for the Tech3 KTM outfit. However, he has struggled to replicate his previous success, trailing behind Maverick Viñales as well as KTM factory riders Pedro Acosta and Brad Binder. His best result this season has been a seventh-place finish at the Circuit of the Americas. Both Aprilia and Pramac Yamaha are reportedly monitoring his situation.

Aprilia’s Internal Rift With Jorge Martin

Despite being under contract for 2026, Martin claims there’s a clause allowing him to exit early a claim that Aprilia swiftly disputed. The situation has escalated, with Aprilia CEO Massimo Rivola even threatening legal action. Martin’s ongoing injury has sidelined him from recent races, including the upcoming Sachsenring GP. In his absence, teammate Marco Bezzecchi delivered a victory at the British Grand Prix. Rivola remains hopeful that Martin will return for the Brno round before the summer break.
