Alabama football offensive coordinator Ryan Grubb has spent recent months diving into the roster to understand the talent he’s working with.
Since joining the program in February, Grubb has worked to quickly familiarize himself with the players. That evaluation process continued throughout spring practices.
With spring ball now concluded, one standout in Grubb’s eyes was running back Daniel Hill.
“I thought Daniel Hill was one of the players who really stood out this spring,” Grubb said. “He impressed me with his physical running style and surprising agility for his size. He’s able to cut and accelerate upfield quickly, and he’s a strong pass catcher out of the backfield. His toughness was evident all spring. He really made strides and improved significantly.”
Hill, a 6-foot-1, 242-pound sophomore from Meridian, Mississippi, appeared in nine games last season, recording 21 carries for 61 yards and a touchdown.
Grubb also had good things to say about the running back group as a whole. He highlighted Jam Miller, the veteran of the group, for his intelligence and called Richard Young a tough, physical runner.
