Alabama lands Elite Four-Star over SEC rival.

Alabama’s 2026 recruiting class is gaining momentum, making a statement in college football with a major commitment. On Friday, four-star EDGE rusher Jamarion Matthews announced his decision to join the Crimson Tide, adding significant talent to their defensive lineup.

The 6’3″, 250-pound prospect from Gainesville, Florida, selected Alabama over top programs like Florida State, LSU, and Clemson. His choice, particularly over arch-rival LSU, is a point of pride for ‘Bama fans. In a video filmed outside his high school, Matthews unveiled an Alabama t-shirt beneath his hoodie, solidifying his commitment.

Ranked No. 214 nationally and No. 18 among EDGE defenders in the 2026 class, Matthews is set to complete his senior year at Gainesville High School in Georgia after spending his junior season at Sparkman High School in Alabama. Last season, he recorded 57 tackles, 29 tackles for loss, and 17 sacks, showcasing his dominance on the field.

Matthews becomes the third recruit secured by head coach Kalen DeBoer for the 2026 class, joining offensive lineman Chris Booker and athlete Zyan Gibson.
