Alabama football hasn’t made a flurry of moves in the spring transfer portal, but it’s not completely quiet either.
The Crimson Tide is expected to host in-state transfer tight end Brody Dalton in the near future, according to his manager Corey Williams, who spoke with AL.com on Friday.
Dalton, a Fyffe native, started eight games last season for Troy during his junior year. Standing at 6-foot-5 and weighing 250 pounds, he began his college career at UAB, redshirting his first year and then playing his freshman season there. He posted 15 catches for 188 yards and three touchdowns last season at Troy. In 2023, he had five receptions for 88 yards, and during his 2022 campaign at UAB, he caught four passes totaling 63 yards.
Tight end depth is a concern for Alabama. By spring’s end, Jay Lindsey was the only fully healthy scholarship tight end on the roster. While Josh Cuevas and Danny Lewis Jr. are expected to lead the position group, adding an experienced player like Dalton could provide much-needed reinforcement.
Head coach Kalen DeBoer acknowledged Alabama might still make some portal moves. “I think there’ll be some (activity),” DeBoer said. “From our standpoint, any way you can improve the roster, we will do that. We’ve done well in previous transfer windows, especially the one back in December.”
