A’ja Wilson delivered a historic and dominant performance to lead the Las Vegas Aces to a win over the Los Angeles Sparks, cementing her status as the WNBA’s most formidable player.

Wilson became the first player in league history to record a stat line of 30 points, 10 rebounds, 5 assists, 3 steals, and 3 blocks in a single game. She finished with 35 points, 13 rebounds, 6 assists, 3 steals, and 3 blocks in a commanding solo effort, guiding the Aces past a Sparks team missing rookie Cameron Brink, who is recovering from a torn ACL.

Now a three-time MVP and two-time WNBA champion, the 28-year-old Wilson continues to play the best basketball of her career, building on her record-breaking 2024 season where she averaged a league-best 26.9 points per game. With this latest performance, she has surged to the top of the MVP conversation once again, competing with Minnesota’s Napheesa Collier and Indiana’s Caitlin Clark though an injury to Clark may impact her candidacy.

Wilson previously made history by becoming only the second unanimous MVP in league history, earning all 76 first-place votes joining Houston Comets legend Cynthia Cooper.

The Aces, who started the season with a 3-2 record despite having one of the league’s most talented rosters, needed Wilson’s brilliance to pull out the win. They recently traded longtime guard Kelsey Plum to the Sparks in a high-profile deal involving Jewell Loyd and the Seattle Storm. Plum, who spent her entire eight-year career with the Aces, has been averaging 24 points per game with the Sparks but has struggled to help them notch wins.

L.A. hopes to have Brink back soon, potentially pairing her with Plum in a dynamic pick-and-roll duo.

As of now, Las Vegas sits as the fourth favorite to win the 2025 championship. The defending champions, New York Liberty, lead the odds, followed by the Lynx and Clark’s Fever, though Clark is expected to miss about two weeks due to a left quad injury.
