TUCSON, Ariz. — Arizona Athletics has announced the appointment of Andrew Dubs as the new Head Coach of the Track & Field and Cross Country programs, Vice President and Director of Athletics Desireé Reed-Francois revealed on Wednesday. With more than a decade of experience developing championship-level talent and cultivating team culture, Dubs brings a dynamic vision and a proven track record of success to the Wildcats.

“We are thrilled to welcome Andrew Dubs as the new leader of our Track & Field and Cross Country programs,” said Reed-Francois. “Andrew is a transformative coach who emphasizes not only competitive excellence but also the holistic development of student-athletes. His energy, integrity, and national reputation make him the ideal person to guide Arizona Track & Field and Cross Country into a new era.”

Dubs joins the Wildcats after serving as the Associate Head Coach at the University of North Carolina, where he oversaw throws and played a key role in team operations and recruiting. During his tenure, he helped develop multiple All-Americans and conference champions while contributing to UNC’s rise in the national rankings. Known for his technical acumen and athlete-centered approach, Dubs has also served on coaching staffs at Penn State, Eastern Michigan, and Charlotte, consistently elevating the performance of his athletes at the NCAA level.

“I am honored and humbled to be named the head coach of the Arizona Track & Field and Cross Country programs,” said Dubs. “This is a storied program with incredible potential, and I am excited to get to work with our student-athletes, staff, and supporters to build something truly special in Tucson. I’m grateful to Desireé Reed-Francois and the entire Arizona Athletics administration for believing in my vision.”

Dubs is recognized for fostering an inclusive team culture rooted in accountability, academic success, and competitive grit. His student-athletes have regularly earned academic honors, while also achieving personal bests on the national stage. As a former All-American thrower himself at the University of Connecticut, Dubs brings a deep understanding of the student-athlete experience and a passion for mentorship that has resonated throughout his career.

In addition to his coaching credentials, Dubs is a sought-after speaker and educator in the track & field community. He has presented at national coaching clinics and contributed to training resources used by programs across the country. His ability to blend performance science with team leadership has made him one of the most respected up-and-coming head coaching talents in the NCAA.

Arizona Track & Field and Cross Country enters a new chapter under Dubs’ guidance, with expectations high for both immediate impact and long-term growth. The program has a rich history of Olympic medalists, national champions, and academic All-Americans — a legacy Dubs is eager to honor and expand upon.

“I’m ready to embrace the Wildcat spirit and get started,” Dubs said. “Our goal is to be among the best in the nation, and we will work every day to make that a reality.”
