Runners Converge on Isle of Wight for Festival of Running.
Hundreds of enthusiastic participants and supporters gathered for the Isle of Wight Festival of Running over the weekend, bringing life and energy to the scenic trails and coastal roads of West Wight.
The two-day celebration of endurance and community welcomed runners of all ages and abilities, who took on events ranging from the rapid 10K to the notoriously tough Half Marathon all under varying weather conditions.
An energetic crowd and a tireless team of volunteers and marshals helped create an electric atmosphere that fueled every race.
In the 10K, Richard Mayo of Lymington Athletes claimed the win, while Natasha Colebrook from Dark Star Running was the first woman to cross the finish line. The 5K saw victories from Martyn Bailey and Karen Mayo.
The Half Marathon featured an intense competition, with Gary Marshal taking top honors. He was followed by Aiden Gorham of Ashford and District RRC and Tyler Rimmer, also representing Dark Star Running. Among the female competitors, Holly Newton led the way, with Amy Chambers and Shannon Rayner close behind.
The Junior Fun Run was a standout event, showcasing the determination and joy of young athletes, all of whom earned medals for their efforts.
Organisers extended heartfelt thanks to their volunteers and to sponsors like Wightlink, Tapnell Farm, Love Running, and Visit Isle of Wight for their continued support.
The event also recognized the generosity of landowners such as the National Trust and Gift to Nature, who provided access to some of the island’s most beautiful running routes.
Proceeds from the festival support the West Wight Sports and Community Centre, which delivers vital health and fitness services to the local community.
As this year’s festival wraps up, organisers are already looking forward to the 2026 edition.
