First Roland-Garros Final for Aryna Sabalenka.

Aryna Sabalenka has stormed into her maiden Roland-Garros final, marking a significant milestone in her career and showcasing her evolution as a true all-surface contender. The Belarusian star, known for her power-packed game, defeated Italian Jasmine Paolini in straight sets in the semifinals, 6-4, 6-3, to book her spot in the championship match in Paris.

Until now, clay had been Sabalenka’s least successful surface, with her previous best at Roland-Garros being a semifinal finish in 2023. But in 2024, she has displayed a more measured and strategic approach, blending aggression with patience a combination that has paid off handsomely on the slow red clay of Paris.

Sabalenka’s path to the final has been anything but easy. She overcame several tough opponents, including a gritty three-set battle against Elena Rybakina in the quarterfinals. Her improved movement, disciplined shot selection, and unwavering mental focus have all contributed to her remarkable run.

This final appearance marks Sabalenka’s third Grand Slam final, having previously won the Australian Open in 2023 and 2024. A win in Paris would not only give her a third major title but also strengthen her case for the world No. 1 ranking.

After the match, an emotional Sabalenka said, “I’ve worked so hard for this moment. Clay has always been a challenge for me, but I’ve learned to love it. Making the final here means everything.”

She will now face either defending champion Iga Świątek or 17-year-old sensation Mirra Andreeva in Saturday’s final both compelling matchups that promise an electrifying conclusion to the women’s tournament.

Regardless of the outcome, Sabalenka’s Roland-Garros 2024 run has proven she belongs among the elite on all surfaces and is here to stay.
