JUST IN: Former WVU head coach Neal Brown debunked rumored linking him to rival program..

Former West Virginia head coach Neal Brown has recently been linked to several high-profile college football jobs.

Initially, rumors suggested Brown was a top candidate for the Ohio State offensive coordinator position, potentially reuniting with former WVU running back CJ Donaldson Jr. in Columbus. However, those reports were quickly shut down when Ohio State opted to promote wide receivers coach Brian Hartline instead.

Now, another major program appears to have interest in Brown West Virginia’s longtime rival, Virginia Tech. The Hokies have been shaking up their coaching staff, parting ways with three assistants. Although offensive coordinator Tyler Bowen initially remained despite heavy criticism from fans, sources now indicate that he has left to take the offensive line coach position on Ryan Day’s staff at Ohio State.

With veteran quarterback Kyron Drones returning for another season, Brown would inherit a mobile playmaker who fits well within his offensive system. His coaching experience at Power 4 programs like Kentucky and Texas Tech further strengthens his appeal as a candidate.

While some WVU fans may not be thrilled about Brown potentially joining their bitter rival, many were simply eager for a coaching change, regardless of his destination. Additionally, any job Brown takes would help offset his WVU buyout, easing the financial burden on the Mountaineers.

Although the Ohio State position seemed like a more high-profile opportunity, a move to Virginia Tech could provide Brown with a fast track to the College Football Playoff. As coaching changes continue, his name remains one to watch in the coming days.
