Former South Carolina women’s basketball forward Sania Feagin has officially earned a spot on the Los Angeles Sparks’ opening day roster for the 2025 WNBA season. The announcement came shortly after fellow rookie Te-Hina Paopao secured her place with the Atlanta Dream, meaning two of coach Dawn Staley’s three 2025 WNBA draft picks made team rosters. Feagin was drafted 21st overall by the Sparks, following Bree Hall at No. 20 to the Indiana Fever though Hall was waived on May 5. Paopao was the highest pick among them, going 18th overall.
With WNBA teams required to finalize rosters by 5 p.m. ET on May 15, only 156 total spots were available across the league’s 13 teams. The Sparks were among the last to reveal their final roster ahead of the May 16 season start. Following the announcement, the team shared a video capturing the moment coach Lynne Roberts and general manager Raegan Pebley informed Feagin of the news. In the clip, Feagin is seen calling her mother and then reaching out to Staley. Staley responded with joy and pride, saying, “I knew you were going to make the damn team, I knew it, congratulations,” prompting laughter from Roberts and Feagin.
"It's really hard for second-round picks, third-round picks to make this team."

Pebley praised Feagin’s growth and training camp performance, crediting her solid practice habits, communication, competitiveness, and coachability—qualities that, she noted, came from her time under Staley’s guidance. Staley added that Feagin’s success was no surprise, remarking that the forward had tapped into everything she represented during her collegiate career.
Standing 6-foot-3, Feagin spent four years at South Carolina, starting every game in her senior season and averaging 8.1 points while leading the team with 60% shooting from the field. She closed the regular season with a standout performance of 22 points and five blocks against Ole Miss on February 28. Feagin and Hall were part of a historically successful Gamecocks class that won two national titles, four SEC regular-season crowns, three SEC tournament titles, and reached four Final Fours. In a preseason game on May 6, Feagin logged three points and one assist in eight minutes for the Sparks.
