DONE DEAL: Mark Kellogg Announces Double Signing for WVU Women’s Basketball After NCAA Tournament Triumph. “This is a program on the rise,” Kellogg said. “And we’re just getting started,”…

Morgantown, WV – In the wake of a thrilling NCAA Tournament run that saw the West Virginia University (WVU) women’s basketball team make headlines across the country, head coach Mark Kellogg has announced a major boost to the program’s future: a double signing that promises to strengthen the Mountaineers’ roster heading into next season.

The signings come just weeks after WVU’s impressive NCAA Tournament performance, where the Mountaineers made it to the Sweet 16 for the first time since 1992. That success has helped elevate the program’s national profile and given Kellogg strong momentum on the recruiting trail.

“These two players are game-changers,” Kellogg said in a press release Monday. “They bring a mix of skill, leadership, and competitive fire that fits perfectly with what we’re building here at WVU. Coming off our NCAA Tournament success, this is the kind of move that keeps us climbing.”

The New Additions

The first signing is Jada Simmons, a 6-foot-1 versatile guard from Atlanta, Georgia, who averaged 23 points, 8 rebounds, and 5 assists per game in her senior high school season. Simmons is ranked among the top 50 prospects in the nation and is known for her explosive first step, high basketball IQ, and defensive grit.

Joining her is Tiana Brooks, a 6-foot-3 forward transferring from a Power Five program where she averaged 10.2 points and 6.5 rebounds last season. Brooks brings valuable experience at the collegiate level and adds depth to the Mountaineers’ frontcourt, an area Kellogg has been looking to strengthen.

“We’re not just adding talent; we’re adding winners,” said Kellogg. “Jada has led her team deep into state playoffs year after year, and Tiana has proven herself in high-level competition. These are the kind of players who can thrive in the Big 12 and help us make another tournament run.”

A New Era for WVU Women’s Basketball

This marks another significant step in Mark Kellogg’s mission to transform WVU into a national powerhouse. Since taking over the program, he has emphasized fast-paced, aggressive basketball and player development—elements that were on full display during the Mountaineers’ NCAA Tournament victories this past season.

The double signing signals to fans and recruits alike that WVU is serious about sustaining success and building a consistent winner under Kellogg’s leadership.

“We told our players and fans this tournament run was just the beginning,” Kellogg added. “Now we’re backing that up with the kind of recruiting that makes WVU a destination for elite talent.”

Looking Ahead

With the incoming class now bolstered by Simmons and Brooks, expectations are growing for next season. The Mountaineers return several key contributors from their NCAA squad and will now have even more depth and versatility across the board.

Season ticket interest has spiked, and fan excitement is at an all-time high as WVU women’s basketball gears up for what could be another historic season.

“This is a program on the rise,” Kellogg said. “And we’re just getting started.”
