The annual Bowl for Ronnie celebrity bowling tournament, held on November 14, 2024, at PINZ Bowling Center in Studio City, California, honored the late Ronnie James Dio’s enduring legacy while raising over $70,000 for the Ronnie James Dio Stand Up and Shout Cancer Fund. This event continues to unite the rock and metal communities in the fight against cancer, reflecting Dio’s personal battle with gastric cancer, which led to his passing in 2010.

Hosted by SiriusXM’s Eddie Trunk, the event attracted a myriad of musicians, actors, and fans. Notable attendees included Tom Morello (Rage Against the Machine), Vinny Appice (Dio, Black Sabbath), Shavo Odadjian (System of a Down), Jesse Hughes (Eagles of Death Metal), and Dirk Verbeuren. A highlight of the evening was the presentation of a $25,000 check to Dr. David Wong and his team at the UCLA School of Dentistry. Their groundbreaking work focuses on developing a non-invasive saliva swab test for early gastric cancer detection, a project supported by the Dio Cancer Fund since 2016
