Lincoln, Neb. —Hoiberg makes official the hiring of new Husker assistant: ‘A relentless recruiter’…

Lincoln, Neb. — Nebraska men’s basketball head coach Fred Hoiberg has officially added a new member to his coaching staff, announcing the hiring of [Assistant Coach’s Full Name] on Thursday. Known throughout college basketball circles as a tenacious recruiter and player developer, the new assistant brings a renewed energy and deep recruiting ties that Hoiberg hopes will elevate the Husker program.

“[Coach’s Last Name] is a relentless recruiter, and his track record speaks for itself,” Hoiberg said in a statement. “He’s someone who connects with players, understands how to build relationships, and isn’t afraid to outwork the competition. We’re thrilled to welcome him to Lincoln.”

The hire marks another key step as Hoiberg continues to reshape the Huskers’ staff following the 2024–25 season. The new assistant joins a program hungry to break through in the Big Ten and build on a foundation that has shown flashes of promise but remains in pursuit of consistency.

[Assistant Coach’s Last Name], who most recently served on staff at [Previous University], played a significant role in landing top recruits and developing talent that eventually reached the professional level. He also brings experience from [list any additional prior schools, NBA experience if applicable], giving him a wide-ranging view of player development and team culture.

“This is a special opportunity,” the new assistant said during his introductory press conference. “Nebraska has everything in place to compete at the highest level — the facilities, the fans, the resources. I’m here to bring an edge every single day and help build something that lasts.”

While his recruiting prowess was a major draw, [Coach’s Last Name] is also regarded as a strong tactician, particularly on the defensive end. Sources close to the program say his energy and attention to detail have already made an impact in early team meetings and workouts.

“He’s got that fire,” said a current Husker player. “The minute he walked into the gym, you could feel it. He’s not just talking — he’s working right there with us, pushing us.”

Hoiberg, entering his sixth season at the helm of the program, has been vocal about the need to adapt in the rapidly changing landscape of college basketball. With the transfer portal and NIL (Name, Image, and Likeness) factors playing a huge role in roster building, having a recruiter with national ties and a strong network has become even more vital.

“This is about finding the right people, not just good coaches,” Hoiberg added. “We needed someone who understands the modern game and connects with today’s athletes. [Coach’s Last Name] brings that and more.”

As the Huskers gear up for a crucial offseason, all eyes will be on how this new coaching dynamic translates to the recruiting trail and ultimately, to wins on the court. But if early signs are any indication, the Huskers have added more than just another assistant — they’ve added a difference-maker.
