Shenzhen Open LIVE: Judd Trump Takes on Mark Selby in First Quarter-Final, Wu Yize Faces Shaun Murphy Later

The 2026 Shenzhen Open has reached the quarter-final stage, with a heavyweight clash between Judd Trump and Mark Selby taking centre stage in Shenzhen, China.

Trump booked his place in the last eight with a 5–2 victory over home favourite Si Jiahui. The former world number one recovered strongly to win the final three frames and set up another meeting with Selby.

Selby also came through a difficult last-16 contest, defeating Stephen Maguire 5–3. The four-time world champion had to work hard for the victory, but secured his place in the quarter-finals and will now face Trump in one of the tournament’s most anticipated matches.

Trump vs Selby

The quarter-final is being played over the best of nine frames at Bao’an Sports Centre. The match is scheduled to begin at 7am BST on Friday, October 2, which is 2pm local time in Shenzhen.

There is plenty of recent history between the two Englishmen. Selby won their last three meetings, including clashes at the Shanghai Masters, Champion of Champions and UK Championship last season. Trump, however, arrives in Shenzhen having won the Shanghai Masters in August and having reached the quarter-finals at every tournament he has played this season.

Trump has also enjoyed a relatively straightforward route to the last eight. He opened the tournament with a 5–0 win over Huang Jiahao before receiving a walkover against Anthony McGill, who withdrew because of illness. He then defeated Si 5–2 in the last 16.

Selby’s route has been more demanding. He defeated Andrew Higginson 5–3, Jackson Page 5–1 and Maguire 5–3. Against Page, Selby produced three centuries, underlining his scoring ability during the tournament.

Wu Yize vs Shaun Murphy

Later in the day, Shaun Murphy is scheduled to meet China’s Wu Yize in another major quarter-final.

Murphy reached the last eight after producing his third consecutive 5–1 victory, this time against Elliot Slessor. The 2005 world champion also produced a 139 break during the match, his fourth century of the tournament.

Wu Yize, meanwhile, had to battle through his last-16 encounter with Ricky Walden. Their match was still being contested late on Thursday, with Wu eventually progressing to set up the quarter-final against Murphy.

The winner of Trump vs Selby will meet the winner of Murphy vs Wu Yize in the semi-finals. The other quarter-finals feature Yuan Sijun against Michael Holt and Scott Donaldson against Chris Wakelin.

The Shenzhen Open is being staged from September 28 to October 4 at Bao’an Sports Centre, with the champion set to receive £177,000. The quarter-final losers receive £22,350.

With Trump and Selby renewing their rivalry and Murphy facing reigning world champion Wu Yize, the Shenzhen Open is entering a crucial stage, with four places in the semi-finals at stake.
