Mikaela Shiffrin produced an unexpectedly candid moment on live television after accidentally dropping an F-bomb while reflecting on one of the most emotional chapters of her skiing career.

The American alpine skiing star appeared on NBC’s Today show on February 19, 2026, just one day after winning gold in the women’s slalom at the Milan Cortina Winter Olympics. During the interview, Shiffrin opened up about the deeply personal emotions she experienced before her gold-medal-winning performance.

While discussing her preparations for the race, the 30-year-old revealed that she had been thinking about her late father, Jeff Shiffrin, who died suddenly in 2020. She described the moment as part of a spiritual journey she had experienced over the previous year.
