Simone Biles and Jonathan Owens surprise announcement of new family member..

Simone Biles and Chicago Bears’ Jonathan Owens have expanded their pet family by adopting a Doberman, adding to their household of three bulldogs. This marks a significant shift for the Olympian and her NFL husband, as Dobermans, known for their athleticism and imposing stature reaching up to 28 inches at the shoulder require more attention and activity than their current dogs.

The news was confirmed by @regalempiredobermans on March 30, stating, “Congratulations to @jowens & @simonebiles. They will be getting their Regal Empire Doberman later this year,” a post that Owens later reshared.

Biles already owns two bulldogs, Lilo and Rambo, who have played a crucial role in supporting her mental well-being throughout her athletic career. She previously shared with Nulo, “Being an elite athlete puts a lot of stress and pressure on you. I got Lilo and Rambo for emotional support and as companions through all of my ups and downs.”

Owens’ bulldog, Zeus, named after the Greek god, joined the household in 2020 after the couple met on a dating app. The two married in 2023. Zeus, described on his own Instagram account as “the most energetic English Bulldog you’ve ever met,” is known for his love of food, chewing, and long naps.

Dobermans, recognized for their loyalty and guarding instincts, have historically been used as protective companions. Their defensive nature made them a key choice in World War II, where they comprised 75% of military working dogs, significantly outnumbering German Shepherds, which made up the remaining 25%.
