Tadej Pogačar once again proved why he’s one of the best cyclists in the world, but this time, he showed his resilience as much as his dominance. The Slovenian superstar overcame a high-speed crash with 50km to go to claim his third Strade Bianche title in stunning fashion.
The world champion went down hard on a corner he knows well, sliding across the gravel in a moment that could have ended his race. But instead of letting it derail him, Pogačar quickly remounted, shook off the dust, and powered back into contention. The crash seemed to ignite an even greater determination, as he methodically closed the gap to the front and launched his trademark attack on the Monte Sante Marie sector.
Despite the setback, Pogačar’s strength was undeniable. He pushed ahead solo, leaving his rivals struggling in his wake. The Tuscan gravel, infamous for testing even the toughest riders, couldn’t slow him down. By the time he reached the final climb into Siena, the victory was all but secured.
Crossing the finish line with his arms raised, Pogačar cemented his status as the king of Strade Bianche. His third victory in the race puts him in elite company and further proves his ability to bounce back from adversity.
“I knew the corner well, but sometimes these things happen,” Pogačar admitted post-race. “I just had to get back up and keep going.”
With another legendary performance, Pogačar once again demonstrated that while he may be human, his racing spirit is simply unstoppable.
