Report: Broncos Shockingly Linked to NFL Legend Rob Gronkowski

The Denver Broncos are expected to bolster their tight end group this offseason to support rookie quarterback Bo Nix. However, a surprising name has emerged as a potential addition future Hall of Famer Rob Gronkowski.

According to Cecil Lammey of ‘104.3 The Fan’ in Denver, Gronkowski is contemplating a return to the NFL, and Denver could be a landing spot. “He worked with Sean Payton at Fox (Sports), and I’m told he loves Denver and quarterback Bo Nix,” Lammey reported.

Gronkowski also has family ties to the franchise, as two of his brothers previously played for the Broncos.

After initially retiring in 2019, Gronkowski returned in 2020 and was traded from New England to Tampa Bay, reuniting with Tom Brady. In his comeback season, he recorded 45 receptions for 623 yards and seven touchdowns, playing a key role in the Buccaneers’ Super Bowl victory, where he scored twice against the Kansas City Chiefs. His final NFL season saw him total 802 yards and six touchdowns in just 12 games.

If Gronkowski were to join the Broncos, he could provide a significant upgrade at the position. Last season, Adam Trautman led Denver’s tight ends with just 188 receiving yards and two touchdowns. The team hasn’t had a tight end score five or more touchdowns since Julius Thomas recorded 12 in 2014.

Even with Gronkowski in the mix, the Broncos are still likely to target a tight end early in the NFL Draft as they continue building around Nix.
