Paige Bueckers Delivers Stephen Curry-Inspired Message During Tough Wings Season, The Dallas Wings slipped to 9-31 in the 2025 WNBA season after a 100-78 defeat to the Atlanta Dream on Friday. Despite the struggles, rookie star Paige Bueckers echoed a message once shared by Stephen Curry during his early years with the Golden State Warriors.
Asked what she would say to Wings fans and teammates, Bueckers urged perseverance:
“We just have to stick with it. Whoever is in that locker room, whoever puts on a Wings jersey that night, that’s who we go to battle with. We don’t need outside validation—inside that room we believe we have enough, and we’ll keep fighting every night.”
She recalled Curry’s 2009 post on X when the Warriors were struggling: “Just stick with us. We’re going to figure it out.” Bueckers said she shares the same kind of belief in her team’s foundation and future: “I just have this undying faith in the group we’re building and how we’re going about it.”
Curry’s words back then came when Golden State sat at 2-5, and though the road was long—with losing seasons and injuries—the Warriors eventually turned into a dynasty, winning their first title in 2015 and capturing four championships over the next decade.
Bueckers, who is averaging 18.9 points, 3.8 rebounds, 5.4 assists, 1.6 steals, and 0.5 blocks per game in her rookie season, has already made history with a 44-point outing against the Sparks—the most ever by a WNBA rookie. At just 23, she’s seen as a future superstar who could one day lift the Wings to greater heights, much like Curry did with Golden State.
Meanwhile, Curry, now 37, remains among the NBA’s elite, averaging 24.5 points this season as he chases a fifth championship.
