Skiers and snowboarders have reason to celebrate as another Colorado resort has confirmed its opening date for the 2025–26 season.
Copper Mountain, known as “The Athlete’s Mountain” in Summit County, announced that it will kick off the winter season on Friday, Nov. 7.
“This week’s cold front has us excited for winter at Copper,” said Olivia Butrymovich, the resort’s Communications and Philanthropy Manager. “This season is shaping up to be one of our biggest yet.”
As part of the winter lineup, Copper Mountain will host the inaugural Stifel Copper Cup over Thanksgiving weekend, Nov. 27–30, marking the return of alpine racing to the resort. Events will include men’s super-G, men’s and women’s giant slalom, and women’s slalom, with Mikaela Shiffrin headlining the women’s competition.
Beyond the races, visitors can enjoy free concerts, fireworks, an award show, and a public bib draw ceremony. The excitement continues Dec. 19–20 with the Toyota U.S. Grand Prix World Cup, where top athletes will compete in Copper’s renowned 22-foot superpipe.
These back-to-back World Cup events will offer fans a unique chance to watch world-class skiers and riders in action just ahead of the 2026 Milano Cortina Winter Olympics.
