Emanuel Dildy Elevated to Associate Head Coach for Duke Men’s Basketball

DURHAM, N.C. — Duke University announced a significant development within its men’s basketball program on Monday, promoting Emanuel Dildy to Associate Head Coach. The move comes as part of Head Coach Jon Scheyer’s continued efforts to strengthen the Blue Devils’ coaching staff with top-tier talent and leadership as the program looks ahead to another competitive season in the Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC).

Dildy, who joined Duke in 2023 as an assistant coach, has quickly made a strong impression within the program. Known for his player development skills, elite-level recruiting, and deep knowledge of the game, Dildy’s elevation reflects both his impact on the court and the trust placed in him by the coaching staff and administration.

“Emanuel has been everything we hoped for when we brought him on board — and more,” said Jon Scheyer. “He’s an excellent communicator, a relentless recruiter, and a teacher of the game. Most importantly, he’s a great leader and mentor for our players. His promotion to associate head coach is well-earned and signals our commitment to continuing to build a championship culture.”

A native of Chicago, Dildy brought over a decade of coaching experience to Duke, including successful stints at Northwestern, Missouri, Valparaiso, Loyola Chicago, and most recently, as an assistant at Oklahoma. His diverse background across various competitive programs has given him a broad understanding of different basketball philosophies and the ability to connect with players from all backgrounds.

Since joining the Blue Devils, Dildy has played a key role in recruiting top prospects and has been instrumental in offseason development work, particularly with the team’s backcourt. His hands-on approach and calm, focused demeanor have earned praise from both players and colleagues.

“I’m incredibly honored and thankful for the opportunity to serve as Associate Head Coach at Duke,” Dildy said in a statement. “Being part of such a storied program is a privilege, and I’m excited to continue working with Coach Scheyer and the rest of our staff to help our players grow and compete at the highest level.”

Dildy’s promotion also signals the ongoing evolution of Duke’s coaching tree under Jon Scheyer, who took over the reins of the program in 2022 following the retirement of Hall of Famer Mike Krzyzewski. Scheyer has made it a priority to surround himself with forward-thinking, high-character coaches capable of blending Duke’s tradition with modern strategies in player development, scouting, and analytics.

With Dildy now serving as Associate Head Coach, the Blue Devils are poised to benefit from his leadership as they prepare for the 2025–26 season. His influence is expected to be felt both on the bench and on the recruiting trail, where Duke continues to compete for the nation’s top talent.

As the Blue Devils look to return to the Final Four and contend for another national championship, Emanuel Dildy’s promotion is a signal of confidence — not only in his abilities but in the direction the program is heading under Scheyer’s leadership.
