
On Tuesday, February 11, Paul McCartney, 82, surprised fans by announcing a same-day concert in New York City. The intimate show, held at the Bowery Ballroom, which has a capacity of just 575 people, sold out within 30 minutes.
According to a press release, tickets were only available for in-person purchase at the venue’s box office. “No tickets sold online,” the statement read. “First come, first served. One ticket per person.” The release also warned against buying from third-party sellers, emphasizing that fake tickets would not be accepted.
Just half an hour after the announcement, a follow-up statement confirmed that all tickets for the show had been sold. Footage from Brooklyn Vegan captured long lines of eager fans outside the Bowery Ballroom on the day of the event.
McCartney’s surprise performance comes just days before his scheduled appearance at the Saturday Night Live 50th anniversary special on Sunday, February 16. He will be joined by a star-studded lineup, including Sabrina Carpenter, Adam Driver, Ayo Edebiri, Dave Chappelle, John Mulaney, Kim Kardashian, Martin Short, Miley Cyrus, Paul Simon, Pedro Pascal, Peyton Manning, Quinta Brunson, Robert De Niro, Scarlett Johansson, Steve Martin, Tom Hanks, and Woody Harrelson.
Additionally, on Friday, February 14, a special concert at Radio City Music Hall will feature performances by Bad Bunny, Miley Cyrus, Post Malone, Jelly Roll, Backstreet Boys, Arcade Fire, Bonnie Raitt, Brandi Carlile, Brittany Howard, Chris Martin, David Byrne, DEVO, Eddie Vedder, Jack White, Mumford & Sons, Preservation Hall Jazz Band, Robyn, The B-52s, and The Roots.
