The International Cricket Council (ICC) has announced the appointment of Usain Bolt, the legendary Jamaican sprinter and eight-time Olympic gold medalist, as the official ambassador for the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2025. The tournament, which will be co-hosted by the West Indies and the United States from July 1 to 29, is set to be one of the most significant global sporting events of the year. Bolt’s involvement marks a major step in the ICC’s efforts to elevate the tournament’s profile and expand the reach of cricket to new audiences.

Widely regarded as the fastest man in history, Usain Bolt brings a unique blend of global star power, charisma, and Caribbean pride to the role. Hailing from Jamaica, one of the heartlands of West Indies cricket, Bolt’s connection to the sport runs deep. His popularity across the Caribbean and worldwide, particularly in the United States where cricket is rapidly growing, makes him a natural choice to promote the event.

In his role as ambassador, Bolt will feature in various promotional campaigns and fan engagement activities leading up to and during the tournament. His presence is expected to create excitement and attract new fans, particularly from non-traditional cricket markets. According to the ICC, the decision to bring Bolt on board reflects its commitment to uniting sport and culture, while also leveraging influential figures to enhance the visibility of the game.

Bolt expressed his enthusiasm for the role, stating, “Cricket has always been a huge part of life in the Caribbean, and I’m thrilled to be part of a tournament that is bringing the game to new audiences in the USA. As someone who has always loved the energy of T20 cricket, I’m excited to help bring that spirit to fans around the world.”

The 2025 edition of the T20 World Cup will be historic in many ways. This will be the first time the USA co-hosts a major ICC event, a move aimed at tapping into the growing cricket community in North America. With new stadiums and fan zones being developed in major U.S. cities, the tournament promises a dynamic fusion of cricket and entertainment. The West Indies, with their rich cricketing history and vibrant culture, will also provide a fitting backdrop for the event.

ICC Chief Executive Geoff Allardice welcomed Bolt’s appointment, noting, “Usain Bolt is a global icon whose personality and achievements transcend sport. His association with the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2025 will undoubtedly enhance the tournament’s appeal, especially as we look to connect with new fans in the USA and beyond.”

With 20 teams competing in the fast-paced T20 format, the 2025 World Cup is expected to showcase thrilling matches, dramatic finishes, and unforgettable moments. Bolt’s ambassadorial role not only adds star value but also reinforces the ICC’s broader mission of making cricket a truly global game. As preparations intensify, Bolt’s involvement is poised to inject a new level of excitement and anticipation among fans across the globe.
