Iron Maiden bassist and founding member Steve Harris has opened up to Music Radar about the legendary band’s upcoming 50th-anniversary tour, Run For Your Lives, set to launch in 2026 and stretch into 2027. Reflecting on the band’s incredible longevity, Harris expressed awe and gratitude at Iron Maiden’s enduring legacy and the unwavering support of their global fanbase.

“It’s amazing that this band’s been going for 50 years,” Harris said. “Honestly, I never thought when we started out in East London that we’d be talking about this kind of milestone. We just wanted to make music, play pubs, and see where it led us. For it to turn into five decades of touring, recording, and connecting with fans—it’s mind-blowing.”

The Run For Your Lives tour promises to be one of Iron Maiden’s most ambitious and theatrical productions to date. Harris noted that the tour will celebrate the entire span of the band’s discography, with a setlist featuring fan favorites and deep cuts from across all 17 studio albums. “We’re digging deep for this one,” Harris said. “There are songs we haven’t played in decades, and some we’ve never played live at all. This is for the fans who’ve been with us from Iron Maiden in 1980 to Senjutsu in 2021—and everyone in between.”

The tour’s title pays homage to the iconic lyric from their 1982 hit “The Number of the Beast,” as well as the band’s enduring mascot, Eddie, who will once again be front and center in the stage production. Harris hinted at new Eddie designs and elaborate visuals to accompany the show. “Eddie’s going to be bigger, meaner, and madder than ever,” he laughed. “We’ve got some surprises up our sleeves. Visually, this tour is going to top everything we’ve done before.”

Iron Maiden has long been known for their epic live performances, and the upcoming tour is set to uphold that legacy. With stops planned across Europe, North and South America, Asia, and beyond, Run For Your Lives will offer fans across the globe a chance to experience the band’s monumental anniversary firsthand.

Harris emphasized that the tour is as much a celebration of the fans as it is of the band. “The fans are what made this possible. We’ve always felt a strong connection to them, whether we’re playing a stadium or a small venue. They’ve stuck with us through every era, and this tour is a thank-you to all of them.”

Looking ahead to 2026, Harris remains as passionate as ever. “We’re still hungry, still pushing ourselves. As long as we’re enjoying it and the fans are enjoying it, we’ll keep going. This 50th-anniversary tour is going to be something special—maybe our biggest yet.”
