Iron Maiden Drummer Announces Return to Touring Again…

After years of speculation and uncertainty, Iron Maiden’s legendary drummer Nicko McBrain has officially announced his return to touring, much to the delight of fans worldwide. The 71-year-old musician, who has been behind the drum kit for Iron Maiden since 1982, shared the exciting news in a heartfelt message to fans earlier this week.

McBrain had temporarily stepped back from full-time touring in recent years due to health concerns. In 2023, he publicly revealed that he had suffered a minor stroke earlier in the year, which had partially affected his mobility and drumming capabilities. Though he remarkably played through most of the band’s “Future Past” tour that year, his health raised questions about whether he would continue to tour extensively in the future.

Now, following a period of recovery and focused rehabilitation, McBrain says he feels strong enough to take the stage once again. In a statement posted on Iron Maiden’s official website and social media accounts, he said:

> “I’m thrilled to tell you all that I’ll be back on the road with the boys for the next leg of our tour. I’ve been working hard on my recovery, and while it’s been a tough journey, the support from the band, my family, and all of you incredible fans has made a world of difference. I’m feeling great, and I can’t wait to get behind the kit again.

The announcement comes ahead of the band’s next major world tour, expected to kick off later this year. Sources close to the group have confirmed that McBrain will be performing for the full tour, marking a triumphant return after more than a year of limited performances and partial appearances.

Bandmate and bassist Steve Harris shared his excitement, saying, “Nicko is the heartbeat of Maiden. It wasn’t the same without him fully there. We’re over the moon that he’s back and ready to roar.”

Fans around the world have flooded social media with messages of support and excitement. Many were worried that the iconic drummer might step away from the rigors of touring altogether, especially given the physical demands of playing Iron Maiden’s energetic and complex music night after night.

McBrain’s return also serves as a broader symbol of resilience. His story has inspired not just music fans but anyone facing physical setbacks and wondering if they can return to doing what they love.

Iron Maiden, formed in 1975, has long been considered one of the most influential bands in heavy metal history. With hits like “The Trooper,” “Run to the Hills,” and “Fear of the Dark,” they continue to draw massive crowds across generations.

With Nicko McBrain’s return, the band is once again complete, ready to bring their signature power and spectacle to stages around the globe. As Iron Maiden famously sings: “The show must go on.”
