Paige Bueckers is set to make her WNBA debut on Friday in a preseason clash between the Dallas Wings and the Las Vegas Aces, where she’ll go head-to-head with three-time MVP A’ja Wilson. This matchup will mark the first meeting between the top draft pick and the seasoned star, albeit in a preseason setting.
Wilson, a two-time WNBA champion, has built an impressive legacy, and Bueckers is clearly aware of her talent. When asked about Wilson on Thursday, Bueckers summed her up in three words: “She’s a problem.”
But Bueckers didn’t stop there she elaborated on her respect for Wilson:
“She’s one of the best players in the league, always in the MVP conversation, and capable of winning it every year. Her skill level is off the charts, and it’s obvious she works incredibly hard. She keeps improving with every season,” Bueckers told Joey Mistretta of FanSided.
The Wings and Aces are scheduled to meet four times in the regular season on June 13, July 16, July 27, and August 17 making Friday’s game just the beginning of what could be a compelling rivalry.
