The second transfer portal window has opened and West Virginia is expecting to be active in both filling needs on the roster and creating more competition.
Head Coach Rich Rodriguez and the rest of the coaching staff has been in contact with a number of key targets and here is a list of some of those options.
Brown spent one season with Connecticut where he rushed for 673 yards and 2 touchdowns. He also added 8 catches for 85 yards and a score as a receiver. Prior to his season with the Huskies, Brown was at Gardner-Webb where he appeared in 19 total games over two seasons and rushed 189 times for 1,088 yards and 11 touchdowns. He also hauled in 20 passes for 278 yards and 5 touchdowns. The Georgia native has one season of eligibility remaining and visited April 27.
Katzer walked on to Washington State and did not appear in a game after a redshirt year before having six carries for 54 yards the following season. The Washington native then transferred to Ferris State where he put together a massive campaign with 1,128 yards and 11 touchdowns while averaging 8.8 yards per carry. Entered the transfer portal in February and has two years of eligibility remaining. West Virginia has offered a scholarship and he will visit May 2-3.
Spencer spent two years at Jackson State where he first hauled in 24 catches for 207 yards and a touchdown in year one before increasing his output significantly in the second season. As a sophomore, Spencer had 35 catches for 660 yards and 4 touchdowns. The Mississippi native entered the transfer portal April 23 and has two years of eligibility remaining in his career.
Crowdus spent his first three years at Kentucky where he redshirted and then appeared in 20 games over the next two. During that time, Crowdus caught four passes for 82 yards. pent last season at Hawaii where he hauled in 16 catches for 402 yards and 4 touchdowns. The Kentucky native has one year of eligibility remaining in his college career. Crowdus entered the transfer portal April 25 and West Virginia has offered.
Carter spent two seasons at McNeese State where he played in 16 total games and recorded 40 catches for 593 yards and 3 touchdowns. A bulk of that production came last season with 37 grabs for 537 yards and 3 scores. The Louisiana native has three years remaining after appearing in just four games in his first year and has drawn multiple offers including one from West Virginia.
Lee only remained with Mississippi State for a few months prior to re-entering the transfer portal but immediately became on of the most sought after interior options along the offensive line. Prior to his stint at Mississippi State, Lee was at Eastern Michigan where he made starts at center, right guard and left guard for the Eagles. He started 10 games in 2024 with starts at all three interior spots and six more at center during the 2023 season. Lee started his career at Colorado and has one year left. He is set to take a visit to West Virginia.
Caldwell spent three years at Grand Valley State where he redshirted in the first before becoming a key piece on the offensive line. The Chicago native then appeared in 25 games over the past two seasons and is a versatile offensive tackle option. Caldwell has two years of eligibility remaining in his career.
Haslam spent three years with the Governors where he appeared in 24 games. Haslam started nine games in 2024 at left tackle and the Georgia native entered the transfer portal with two years remaining. West Virginia has offered along with a number of others.
Mitchell spent the first two years at Chowan where he appeared in 11 games as a true freshman with 27 tackles, 11 tackles for loss, two sacks and two QB hurries and was an all-rookie league selection in the first year. In the second, Mitchell followed that up with 57 tackles and 14 tackles for loss. Mitchell then appeared in 9 games at West Florida where he had had 46 tackles, 17.5 tackles for loss and 7.5 sack earning first-team all-Gulf South Conference and co-GSC Defensive Player of the Year honors in his lone season with the Argonauts. The Maryland native has one year of eligibility remaining. Mitchell has a visit set to West Virginia May 2 after the program offered.
Adedire spent three seasons with the Red Raiders but only two on the field after sustaining a season ending injury prior to the start of last year. Before that as a true freshman he started six games and recorded 19 tackles, 3.5 tackles for loss and a sack and was named an honorable mention all-Big 12 selection for his efforts. Adedire followed that up with 25 tackles, 4 tackles for loss and a sack. He again appeared in all 12 games and made a total of eight starts at outside linebacker. Adedire has two years left in his career and West Virginia is involved.Barton College linebacker edge E’Lla Boykin
Boykin spent one season at Barton where he recorded 55 tackles, 3.5 tackles for loss, 1 sack and an interception. That earned him South Atlantic Conference Defensive Freshman of the Year and a place on the all-conference team. The North Carolina native has three years of eligibility remaining and West Virginia has offered.McDonald spent four seasons at Virginia Tech but only appeared in two games last season after missing the year due to injury. As a redshirt freshman, McDonald appeared in 10 games and made three starts where he made 20 tackles, 3.0 tackles for loss, 1.0 sacks and one quarterback hurry. As a sophomore McDonald played in 12 games and started five of those registering 30 tackles. The Virginia native has appeared in 25 games and could have two years of eligibility remaining in his career.
Lewis has spent all four years of his career at Akron where he has appeared in 36 total games and recorded 205 tackles, 17 passes defended, 10.5 tackles for loss and 2 interceptions. The Ohio native is coming off a season where he recorded 74 tackles, 7 passes defended and an interception. Has one season of eligibility remaining. Visited West Virginia April 23.Smith only spent one season at Florida where he technically redshirted after he appeared in five games including the bowl game. Over those contests Smith recorded five tackles and a pass breakup. The Florida native was a high-level recruit and has four years remaining in his college career after entering the transfer portal.
King enrolled at Kansas State in January but entered the transfer portal following the end of the spring. The Ohio native recruited by the former West Virginia coaching staff and was offered by the program once he entered the transfer portal. Has five years to play four.
Robinson spent three seasons with the Wasps where he played in 27 games and recorded 125 tackles and 7 interceptions. That included this past season where the Virginia native was an all-SAC All-Mountain Division selection after recording 71 tackles, 6 interceptions and 5 tackles for loss and half a sack. The Virginia native has one season of eligibility remaining in his college career and plans to visit West Virginia.
