Breaking: Hodge Announces Signing of Jasper Floyd…
West Virginia University (WVU) men’s basketball coach Ross Hodge has announced the signing of transfer guard Jasper Floyd, a versatile player known for his all-around contributions on the court. Floyd joins the Mountaineers after a standout season at Fairfield University, where he led the Stags to the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) tournament title game and the College Basketball Invitational (CBI) championship game. His performance contributed to Fairfield’s most successful season in over a decade, with 24 wins, an 11-win improvement from the previous year, and a program-record 87 steals in a single season
Standing 6-foot-3 and hailing from Tampa, Florida, Floyd is recognized for his dynamic playstyle. He led Fairfield in assists (153), rebounds (220), and steals (87), while also maintaining the best assist-to-turnover ratio on the team at +2.0. Notably, he was one of only two players in the nation last season to average at least 6.0 rebounds, 4.0 assists, and 2.0 steals per game, showcasing his rare combination of skills
Before his time at Fairfield, Floyd played for Northwest Florida State College, where he was part of the team that won the 2022 NJCAA Division I National Championship. He also spent a season at Hillsborough Community College, serving as team captain and averaging 14.7 points, 7.0 rebounds, and 5.0 assists per game
Coach Hodge expressed enthusiasm about Floyd’s addition to the team, highlighting his defensive prowess and ability to create opportunities for teammates. With Floyd’s defensive skills and playmaking ability, he is expected to be a key contributor to the Mountaineers’ backcourt in the upcoming season.
Floyd’s signing adds depth and experience to WVU’s roster, and fans are eager to see how his contributions will impact the team’s performance in the Big 12 Conference.
