The San Francisco 49ers are aiming for a strong comeback in 2025 following a disappointing 2024 NFL season.
Just two years removed from being the NFC’s top team and losing a heartbreaker in Super Bowl overtime to the Kansas City Chiefs, last season fell far short of expectations for San Francisco.
They ended the year with a 6-11 record and failed to reach the playoffs. While the team underperformed overall, injuries played a major role in their struggles. Key contributors like quarterback Brock Purdy, running back Christian McCaffrey, wide receiver Brandon Aiyuk, and defensive end Nick Bosa all battled health issues and in the NFL, it’s tough to win when your top talent is sidelined.
Now healthy, Bosa is ready for the new season and particularly excited about a new addition to the defense.
The 49ers selected former Georgia edge rusher Mykel Williams with the 11th overall pick in the 2025 draft, and Bosa is already impressed with what he’s seen. He recently praised the rookie’s mindset and work ethic.
“He’s really eager to learn probably more so than most young guys I’ve been around,” Bosa said. “He wants to absorb everything he can, and I’m looking forward to sharing what I know. He’s incredibly gifted, and his potential is sky-high.”
Bosa, now 27, is also preparing for another standout season of his own. Despite injuries across the team last year, he managed to play in 14 games and posted 52 tackles, nine sacks, a forced fumble, a fumble recovery, one interception, and a pass defended.
The 49ers will kick off their 2025 campaign on September 7 with a road matchup against the Seattle Seahawks.
